[ARCHIVED] Jogger robbed, suspect located and arrested


At 5:16 a.m., on January 20, Eugene Police officers were dispatched after report of a street robbery. A visitor from another state was out jogging when he was approached near W. 8th Avenue and Willamette Street by a man he didn’t know. This man, later identified as Angel Hutchinson-Gallardo, age 24, is reported to have punched the victim, age 64, in the face. The jogger was stunned and an object he was carrying fell to the ground, only to be picked up by Hutchinson-Gallardo, who fled south on Willamette Street. 


The victim called police and at around 5:37 a.m., officers located Hutchinson-Gallardo at W. 8th Avenue and Olive Street, where he was soliciting a transient for a change of clothing. Hutchinson-Gallardo was detained and the item was recovered nearby. 


Hutchinson-Gallardo was arrested and transported to Lane County Jail on charges of Robbery in the Third Degree and Harassment. Case 22-01131
