[ARCHIVED] Man arrested after shooting inside home wounds neighbor

Crime Scene Tape for Ongoing Investigation image

Around 4:24 a.m., March 26, Central Lane 911 began receiving reports of shots fired near the 2600 block of Edison Street. Subsequently, a person in an apartment in the 2600 block of Edison reported a female in her 30s had been shot. Responding Eugene Police received information a man, later identified as Bryan Douglas Couch, age 47, a neighbor of the woman shot, had been shooting a firearm from inside the residence where he lives with his parents. Couch’s father engaged with Couch and during a physical altercation took the firearm from Couch. Patrol units subsequently were able to take Couch into custody safely without further incident. He will be lodged at Lane County Jail on Assault in the Second Degree. Other charges are pending.

During this incident, EPD patrol officers were able to evacuate the wounded woman from her apartment and relay her to Eugene Springfield Fire medics, who transported her to a local hospital where she remains under care for non-life threatening injuries.

The Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit responded and is continuing to investigate.
