Community members of all ages are invited to help plant trees this Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. - noon in celebration of Arbor Month.

Mayor Lucy Vinis will kick-off this family-friendly event by accepting the 2022 Tree City USA Award from the Arbor Foundation and by issuing the 2022 Arbor Month Proclamation. The City of Eugene has earned Tree City USA status for 43 consecutive years for its commitment to its urban forest.

This event is part of Urban Forestry's latest initiative to plant 600 new street trees in Eugene in three of the highest priority and hottest areas, based on a variety of health index and socio-economic factors, were selected this planting season.

This neighborhood surrounding Chase Commons Park will get 186 new trees, providing many benefits to an area dense with multi-family housing units.

Volunteers are asked to bring closed toe shoes, work gloves and water. Instruction, tools and materials will be available.
