At the Monday, April 11 City Council meeting, Eugene Mayor Lucy Vinis issued a proclamation that April will be acknowledged as Fair Housing Month in Eugene. The month of April has been designated as Fair Housing Month by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The Federal Fair Housing Act was enacted on April 11, 1968 prohibiting discriminatory housing practices. This, along with the Fair Housing Act, as amended and other federal laws, ensure all individuals receive equitable treatment in the pursuit of their housing choices.
