[ARCHIVED] City of Eugene Purchases Parkland in Northeast Eugene

Aerial View of Delta-Ayres Parkland

The City of Eugene is happy to announce the purchase of 12 acres of parkland at the intersection of Delta Road and Ayres Road in northeast Eugene.

The newest addition to the Eugene Parks and Open Space is one of the largest neighborhood park sites in our system.

Formerly the three southernmost holes of the RiverRidge Golf Course, the site features mature trees, remnant sloughs, naturalized greens and a loop path with three bridges.

This area is rapidly developing with a large increase in residential housing. Prior to this acquisition, there was no public parkland within a 1/2 mile walking distance and had been identified in the Parks and Recreation System Plan as in need of a neighborhood park.

The sale closed on February 28, 2022 for the purchase price of $211,530. City funding for the purchase came from the 2006 Parks and Open Space bond measure.

The site is designated as a future neighborhood park. Currently, there are no identified development funds.

While the site is open to the public, please be advised that Parks staff is working on initial site stabilization measures such as mowing, boundary marking and signage.

There is no on-site or street parking so visitors must walk to the site. Parks Planning staff will be working with Public Works Engineering to improve public access.
