StreetCrimes2

On June 29 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Eugene Police SWAT, Street Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and Drone Team executed a simultaneous narcotics and firearms search warrant at 3272 Kevington Avenue, and 2177 W. 7th Place.

EPD SCU had received numerous public complaints regarding frequent, short-stay traffic and suspected drug dealing at the residence of 3272 Kevington Avenue. This residence is associated with Daniel Fraser Caldwell, age 43. Shortly into the investigation, SCU officers ascertained there was probable narcotic activity at a secondary location identified as Caldwell’s place of business at 2177 W 7th Place, Eugene.  EPD SCU gained valuable intelligence during the investigation and quickly established probable cause to apply for a search warrant.

On the day the warrant was served, Caldwell was attempting to leave the area from his residence in a vehicle but was met by EPD SWAT and taken into custody without incident.  Angel Careagagonzales, age 48, was also associated with the residence and was still inside of the home. After a brief conversation over the phone with a supervisor on scene, he agreed to exit the residence and was taken into custody without incident. Both Caldwell and Careagagonzales were subsequently lodged at the Lane County Jail.

A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of three firearms (one of which was stolen), heavy and soft body armor, sound suppressor, handgun conversion kit for Glock handgun, money counter, more than 80 grams of suspected Cocaine, more than 62 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, and more than $11,000.

Caldwell was lodged at Lane County Jail on the following charges:

Possession of Controlled Substance Cocaine

Possession of Controlled Substance Methamphetamine-Commercial Delivery Offense

Felon in Possession of a Firearm, two counts

Unlawful Possession of Firearm Silencer

Felon in Possession of Body Armor

Careagagonzales was lodged at Lane County Jail on the following charges:

Felon in Possession Firearm (Recovered stolen Firearm from Silverton)

Felon in Possession of Body Armor
