The City of Eugene is seeking public comment on drafts of the updated Stormwater Management Plan and Monitoring Plan. The documents outline actions the City will take to protect and improve downstream water quality. Updated plans are required by Eugene’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater permit.
Please send comments by November 9, 2022 to: NPDES Permit, City of Eugene Public Works Engineering, 99 East Broadway, Suite 400, Eugene, OR 97401 or by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org. The plans will be finalized in consideration of public comments and submitted to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality for review and approval.
The Stormwater Management Plan (SWMP) is a written summary of the updated comprehensive set of 22 best management practices the City will continue to implement to reduce stormwater pollution including: performing maintenance of the system of publicly-owned pipes, ditches, bioswales, rain gardens, and open waterways, street sweeping, seasonal leaf pick-up, winter road sanding and de-icing, erosion prevention , water quality standards for new development and redevelopment, stormwater management for commercial and industrial sites, spill response, responding to illicit discharges and activities, stormwater education and outreach, volunteer activities, tree planting, and stormwater capital improvement projects.
The Monitoring Plan describes the City’s monitoring objectives, strategies, locations, pollutant parameters, and monitoring procedures and protocols.
