[ARCHIVED] New: Read-aloud VOX Books for kids

Have you *heard*? Eugene Public Library now lends VOX Books for children! Kids just push a button on the book to listen as the built-in player reads the words on each page out loud.

VOX Books can be used with or without headphones. No computer, app, internet connection, CD or batteries are needed. Each book will play 150 times, then can be quickly recharged with a USB charger or simply returned to the library.

No wonder VOX Books won the 2021 National Parenting Product Award in their Best Books for Kids and Families category, and a 2021 Mom’s Choice Award.

At Eugene Public Library, choose from 245 picture books and early reader titles so far, including English, Spanish, bilingual English/Spanish and bilingual English/Chinese. Titles in French and Japanese are coming soon. VOX Books are available at all our locations -- and you can place hold requests to have them reserved and delivered to the location of your choice. Find VOX Books in the library catalog.

"We're so happy to start lending VOX Books," says librarian Rebecca Saxon. "They're easy for young children to use without help, which is handy for caregivers and fun for the kids. You can really see how they start developing a sense of themselves as readers all on their own. Also VOX Books help them learn to read as they follow along with the recording. And they can listen to a book over and over and over ... and over ... which young children love to do, and need to do."

She adds, "VOX Books are also a great support for kids who have started reading and are having some challenges. And they're often appealing to kids who haven't found books especially engaging yet. Really for everyone, they're just a super fun way to read."
