During the evening of November 6, Eugene Police and University of Oregon Police were notified of a person in the Eugene area who had been making threatening phone calls to local organizations.  On November 7, a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Deschutes County Circuit Court for failure to appear in an unrelated assault case. Shortly after the warrant was issued, his vehicle was located by a University of Oregon Police officer near campus.  It was believed the suspect was armed. Due to the potential threat to the community, SWAT and other EPD teams were deployed to take the suspect into custody on his warrant. EPD attempted to stop him with the assistance of SWAT, on West 11th Avenue and Garfield Street.  The suspect eluded the wrong way on W. 11th Avenue for about a block.  His vehicle came to a stop at West 11th Avenue and Hayes Street and he was found deceased inside his vehicle of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
