[ARCHIVED] Art The Box: Calling all 2D Visual Artists

Art The Box - Public Art Contest

The Public Art Plan calls for more art in everyday objects and more opportunities for 2D artists. Visual artists are being invited, by the City’s Public Art Committee, to inundate downtown Eugene with compelling 2D work on traffic control boxes. The results will bring more art and color to our downtown, engage visual artists in our public space and help to minimize tagging on traffic control boxes.

The competition includes two parts; a juried contest and a people’s choice contest. Three artists will be chosen for the juried contest to apply artwork on three to five boxes each. The awards will be chosen by a jury and painted in downtown locations. One artist will be chosen to create artwork on one box through a people’s choice award via City of Eugene Cultural Services Facebook page.

All 2D visual artists are invited to apply. For the full Call To Artists visit www.eugene-or.gov/publicart or www.eugeneagogo.com
