A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train on September 26 at 1:39 p.m. at 1st and Van Buren. According to witnesses, Shannon Gale Bergstrom, age 31, no known address, walked onto the tracks and the crash appeared intentional. The involved train was a westbound Union Pacific train.
The area was closed for an undetermined amount of time, at least several hours.
