[ARCHIVED] Five-year-old boy donates birthday money to Fire Dept

Ethan Kramerberry is a five year old boy who donated his birthday money to Eugene Springfield Fire Department. It began when Ethan decided he did not want toys for his birthday. Instead, he wanted to do something nice for his heroes. He asked his friends and family to give money to him for his birthday, instead of gifts. Ethan received a total of $68.00 for his birthday. His family then brought him to Fire Station 15 on 33rd Avenue, where Ethan presented the firefighters with a homemade card and the money he collected. Ethan told the firefighters he wanted them to buy some “really big hose” with the money.

The Eugene Springfield Fire Department will be presenting Ethan with a Certificate of Appreciation and an opportunity to see a piece of “really big hose” (5” in diameter) with his name stenciled on it during a small presentation on November 20, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Ethan and his family will be presented the certificate by Fire Chief Randy Groves who will be accompanied by the firefighters from that station who will be using the hose with Ethan’s name on it.

The media is invited to attend this event that showcases community service from one of its youngest members.
