[ARCHIVED] Officer Involved Shooting Near Churchill High School at 2:45 p.m.

At 2:45 p.m. today, what began as a traffic stop evolved to an incident with a Eugene Police officer calling for emergency cover and a modified school lockdown for Churchill High School and a lockdown at Kennedy Middle School. Shortly afterwards, there was a call of shots fired. A 44-year-old white male suspect is deceased at the southeast side of Churchill High School. He was armed with a handgun.

There were no serious physical injuries to the officer.

There is no known ongoing threat to students or public at this time. Students were allowed to leave Churchill High School via the north entrance. Kennedy is also no longer on lockdown .

Lane County's Interagency Deadly Force Investigation Team responded to investigate. ###
