1. How many dogs are allowed in the city limits?

Within the Eugene city limits, a maximum of three adult dogs are allowed on a property.

2. What if I am impacted by barking dogs?

If a dog barks continuously for 15 minutes or more, you can contact Animal Services at 541-682-5748 during business hours. If the nuisance occurs after hours, contact the non-emergency Eugene Police Department at 541-682-5111.

3. Is camping allowed? How and where?

The owner of a property in residential use may allow overnight camping on their private property. One family may camp in an RV or camper in the driveway, or in a tent in the backyard, if at least five (5) feet from the property line.

On property that is in commercial or industrial use, vacant or used as a place of worship, up to three (3) families may camp in a recreational vehicle parked on paving or gravel.

In all cases, the property owner shall not be compensated and must provide bathroom facilities, garbage service and a storage area that is not visible from the street. For more details about camping, see Eugene City Code 4.816.

4. Do I need to use a garbage can for my household and yard waste?

Yes, perishable garbage must be stored in containers with tight fitting lids and must be removed from the property at least every two weeks. An accumulation of perishable garbage is not allowed to become offensive or attract rodents.

5. Where are garbage cans or dumpsters supposed to be located?

Garbage containers shall be sturdy, water-tight, rodent proof, and have tight fitting lids. Containers must be conveniently accessible to garbage haulers, and in between disposal times be stored on private property.

9. To whom can I report a vacant open structure?

Vacant and open structures are those buildings not inhabited or in use, and which are accessible to children and trespassers. These buildings are considered a nuisance and must be secured to prevent entry. See Eugene Code 6.010(b) for more information.

10. Can I store my unlicensed vehicle in my driveway or yard?

All vehicles parked on private property and visible from the street must exhibit a current license plate and registration tag. If parked for more than 48 hours at a time, the vehicle must be stored at least 10 feet from the property line. If moved every 48 hours, the vehicle may be parked on a maximum 27 foot wide driveway within the first 10 feet of a private property. See Eugene Code 9.6745(7)(a) for more information.
