Park Renovation Project

The City of Eugene will be leading community conversations and a design process through 2024 with construction in 2025. Funding for this project comes from system development charges. Learn more about the Scobert Gardens Park renovation.

Description

Scobert Gardens Park was created in 1983 with a Community Development Block Grant, along with many hours of volunteer labor and energy. Scobert Gardens Park was Eugene’s first playground to include a fully rubberized safety surface. The rubber surface has proven to be a cost-effective, low-maintenance, and safe alternative to commonly used materials such as sand or engineered wood chips. It is wheelchair-accessible and meets both the American Society for Testing and Materials’ safety standards and the Consumer Products Safety Commission’s safety guidelines.
