Due to its environmental, historic, and social significance, Walnut Grove Park is one of a few neighborhood parks in Eugene to be maintained primarily as a natural area. Walnut Grove Park includes a western pond turtle preserve and is bordered to the south by Flat Creek and to the west and north by Dianna’s/Kelly Pond, an old borrow pit. The park’s design emphasizes native plant and wildlife preservation and enhancement, passive recreation, and educational opportunities. Improvements include turtle fencing, planting of native trees, picnic tables, an accessible pathway, and benches.
